Advent 1st

I've never filmed with my new camera or made a video on my iMac so I thought it would be fun having a go and at the same time show you this year's advent decor.  The tree's till to come. We usually put it up around mid month which I know a lot of Swedes find early. Tradition in a lot of families it so put it up the day before Christmas Eve (23rd) and keep it up for 20 day after but I much prefer to put it up earlier and take it down after soon after New Year's Eve.

 

 

 

Anywho, here goes. Enjoy!

Apoteket Commercial

So here it is, the commercial Wille's in, by popular demand :).

It was shot just a few weeks ago while I was on the train to see my mom. I think Wille did great and best of all he's pleased with the result himself.

Fun facts: The director is Felix Herngren (famous Swedish comedian, actor and director) and he's actually crouched in the back seat there in the car just behind Wille. And no, Wille isn't actually driving in any of the scenes. He's only 16 and you need to be 18 to drive over here. The car was pulled by the car with the film crew on and he had a body double doing the driving at the end of the scene. They "drove" around and around and around Lidingö (a Stockholm suburb) trying different versions of the scene.

What his lines are? He says; "Do we turn over here or...?" the driving teacher mumbles no and then Wille tries to get an answer once again. The voice over says something about "Björn (the driving teacher) has a bad back which keeps him awake at night and bla bla bla he should go to Apoteket to learn more about pain medication". The end voice over says "Because we can't have this". Pretty funny :)

Origami Butterfly Mobile

So a number of you wanted to know more about the butterfly mobile I hung over the new desk. I don't know if you could see that properly but the butterflies are origami, i e folded from 15 cm / about 6 inch square origami paper. 

When Wille and I sorted out the stuff in his room we came upon an old packet of these papers and I wanted to do a butterfly after seeing it in this post by reader Ania. 
 

Couldn't find the instructions for that particular species which is super cute but I found the one above by Oxford Origami googeling. 

Here's a little video I shot today of how to fold a butterfly just like the ones above. The body part at the end took a bit of figuring out but it's actually pretty easy. Be sure to make that first fold nice and neat or you will have the inside white showing further down the line.


I used a mobile structure which I already had at home and simply clipped my butterflies on there but you can find mobile structures in craft stores or at least the materials to make your own, Think thin dowels and string.

Gröna Lund

 
Yesterday was Martin's Birthday and we decided to celebrate by going to our local amusement park, Gröna Lund, here in Stockholm.


Martin and Wille went hard core and got wrist bands so they could go on as many of the attractions as often as they wanted while I carried the bag and enjoyed the sun from benches below. I did go on a few of the rides and offered to go on the free fall which Martin declined. But so did Wille :)


Here Martin and Wille are on the Extreme. Yikes. I so didn't want to go on that one and apparently Martin wished it would stop about half way through.


There was a little bit of waiting in line but even though the weather was gorgeous it wasn't too bad. Wille went with his friends the day after school ended and that day the lines were crazy!


And here Wille and Martin are riding the Broom. This one was great, very Harry Potter, very smooth and really enjoyable. I went once as well. Too short a ride though.


This is a favorite, the Jetline! I didn't count how many times Martin and Wille went ( I went once) but it's a fun ride. Check out the boot leg video below that Wille shot (cameras were not allowed out...my junior delinquent...) Not for the faint hearted though. It makes me a little queasy watching it... The view that you can catch glimpses of is pretty amazing. Stockholm really is a beautiful city!
