Vitamins

Don’t try this at home if you have young kids. Ok, so now that that’s out of the way I’ll just quickly share how I store my daily vitamins. For me to remember to take them I need to see them but those plastic containers and boxes they come in are so unattractive so instead I’ve transferred them into these flea market glass jars. NOW they look pretty on the counter and I do remember to actually take them.

What they are? I take magnesium against leg cramps (awful at night!), Glucosanol for when I cheat on my LCHF diet (not technically a vitamin, I know, and no idea if it really works but I’m trying it out) and Hair Volume to try and get my hair into shape. I’ve also been taking vitamin D to drag me out of this winter’s hibernation mode but with spring here and the sun out I can stop taking those. And I do know that eating a balanced diet is best of all.

The Office/Crafts Closet

When I moved my clothes downstairs and later switched from the Expedit shelf to the Snow cabinets I basically just shoved all my office and craft stuff into the former closet opposite my desk. The arrangement worked temporarily but didn’t feel organized and because I’d used up two of the shelves earlier (when I didn’t need them) for a project the space wasn’t used to its full potential.

A couple of weeks ago we got a bigger bed for Wille and as I ordered it online from IKEA I added a set of two shelves for the Pax closet too.

Oh, and yes, the shelves ARE bowing in that photo, it’s not JUST the wide angle lens’ fault. The shelves are too long to hold the weight of the magazines.

 

So with the help of Miss Mini I started out by emptying out all that was in there and wiped all the shelves down. I put 95% of it back inside except for some of the vintage wallpaper we found last year which is going back into the attic with the rest of it.

 

After adding the two new shelves, moving the heavy magazines to the bottom and splitting up the Muji drawer units it all came together nicely. There’s still an issue with a bowing shelf but I’ll be addressing that in a separate post when I’ve fixed it. I know what to do but haven’t had the time to do it. You know how it is.

Anyway, I’m pleased with the result so far. It feels tidy and organized which was what I wanted.

Keys

Remember these from back in August?

 

Well, I finally sorted all my keys and once again tried to determine which ones go where. Last time around I just tried them and relied on remembering which ones go where but this time I decided to do it properly by really labeling them all. Even the “obvious” ones which I realized aren’t obvious at all after I tried to tell Wille over the phone which ones go to the garage. Picture me going “there are two keys, kind of squareish but not really, slightly golden, or maybe silvery”. Yeah, that kind of applies to all the keys.

 

I also sorted our pad locks out. We have five of them (one’s in use in the garage) but about 30 pad lock keys. Needless to say they don’t all go in these five pad locks, some have been lost over the years so I once and for all numbered the locks and the matching keys + after this shot was taken added labels to the extra key/s leaving one in the lock and the rest in the shoe locker where all the keys in use are stored.

I’m holding on to the rest of the keys in a box in the basement so in case a missing lock magically appears I know where to look for the matching key. I would have loved to toss them but am afraid that if I do I’ll find where it would have gone right after.

 

I love the uniform look of the label holders. And yes, I did keep the jail cell, weapons cabinet labels behind my new ones.

 

And there they are in their spot in the entry hall. I added a few more after this was taken after Wille woke up because I had to consult him on his bike keys and on some of the pad locks. So pleased that we can now both find the right keys for everywhere all the time.

Oh, just so you know in case you missed it in yesterday’s post, I’m off to see my mom tomorrow and will be away until Saturday which means this is the last post of the week.

Vitriini

I’ve grown up with Iittala, having lived in Finland the first four years of my life and that brand being heavily present in my childhood home in the form of stemware and vases. So when my new pals at Iittala’s Swedish PR company wanted to send over a gift I was more than happy to accept.

 

Especially happy  since the gift was a couple of the new styles for 2013 of Vitriini, those cute square glass boxes that came out a few years ago. They’ve been on my wish list for quite a while but I couldn’t really justify the need for yet another container of any kind. SO happy to accept these though. The colors were quite the surprise though. I didn’t know what I’d be getting and while the white/clear one was a given favorite the salmon one came as a bit of a shock (I must be easily shocked). My first instinct was that I would have nowhere to put it but within an hour or so it had grown on me and now I love it.

 

Where to put them into use though? I went around the house and found the perfect spot for them both. They now collect our spare change in the entry hall. 10 kronor coins in the small salmon one and the rest in the larger clear/white Durat one.

Boxed In

Longtime readers probably know this but I’m saying it again, I hate cords, cables and  wires trailing on the floor (or anywhere else for that matter). So I try my best to hide it all away best as I can. Here’s one example. This unit besides housing the TV also houses the DVD player and a cable network box. The antennae cable and extension cord from the socket behind the sofa run through here but once they reach their destination where everything needs to get plugged in I ended up with needing additional sockets which meant additional extensions. So where did it all go?

Tada! I shoved it all in there where it’s accessible but not something cluttering up the floor behind.

 

See? Nothing on the floor, all neatlyboxed in. Gotta love that.
