New York City here we come!
Wille and I have booked flight tickets to NYC in April. It’ll be our third time there together. This time we have no particular plans. I want to do a bit of shopping and Wille just wants to wander around the city. I’m up for that! We’ll probably stay in Chelsea this time around but we haven’t booked a hotel yet. If you have any Chelsea tips, hotels, restaurants etc we’d love to here them!
Yay, it’s here! My new Canon 5D Mark II is here! I’m broke but very happy!
I love the lenses I chose. This is the EF 50 mm 1:1.4. Love the depth of field possibilities of it. This I just snapped quickly from my armchair.
And here’s a quick sample of what the EF 24 mm 1:2.8 IS USM does with my living room. I haven’t had a lot of time to try it out properly yet, still reading the body manual but I think it will come in really handy.
It’s BIG. It’s HEAVY. I LOVE it.
So, again thank you so much for all the great advice and camera tips the other week. I made my decision fairly quickly after that. My original plan was to wait until December to get my new gear but once I had figured out what I wanted I couldn’t wait and placed my order. Now I’m waiting impatiently for my Canon 5D Mark II. Yay! Not the waiting part but the camera. I’m so excited as so many of you had so much good to say about it. I also went to check it out at a local camera store and they also gushed over it.
I also got the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens like planned and I’m excited to check out the difference between it and the 50mm f/1.8 I have now.
The second lens decision was the hardest one to make and I sure hope what I finally decided on will work out. After checking out several options live at the store I didn’t go for a zoom lens which I kind of thought I would but instead opted for a wide angle one, the Canon EF 24mm F2.8 IS USM.
So now I’m a lady in waiting, the 24mm lens was out of stock when I ordered and they waited for everything to be ready before shipping so it has taken longer than expected to arrive.
I should get it all TODAY!
Yes, you guessed it. I have welcomed Mr. Mac into my life. We met last Wednesday and have just started getting to know each other.
After reading all your very helpful comments I decided to take the plunge and switch from PC to Mac and also while I was at it switch from a laptop to a stationary computer.
In the end the reasons for the leap were
* Wille and you guys (at least most of you) say you're so happy with your Macs.
* Because you said the transition from PC to Mac wouldn't be so difficult. It's not!
* I'll still be able to run Photoscape and Live Writer once I've gotten a Windows cd and gone down the Bootcamp/Parallells route which Wille wanted to do on his iMac anyway because he uses a 3D PC only software at school.
The reasons for getting an iMac instead of a MacBook Pro were
* After thinking about it I realized that with my new job I don't travel anymore and don't really need a laptop for that reason.
* If I do travel occasionally I can bring Wille's iPad or since there's still a bit of life left in my Sony Vaio he can tag along until he's completely dead.
* I hardly ever carried the laptop around the house, I always sat at the desk with it anyway.
* The price of the larger MacBook Pro (I wanted a substantially larger screen than the 14" I had) was so much higher than the iMac.
And
* He's so good looking!

Wohoo! Can you believe I’m writing my 1000th post today??? I almost can’t! Anyway, it’s taken me three and a half years to do it and with an average of 500 words per post that makes half a million words. 500 000! My English teacher Mrs Malmborn would have been proud.
