Remember these?

 

I mean how can you resist something as weird and wonderful? I got them at an online auction only to realize that they are MUCH bigger than I expected. There was a measurement mentioned but I wasn’t really paying attention and figured “how big can they be? Turns out quite big actually.

The next question was “where do the go”? I know, silly me, buying stuff at auction that I haven’t seen live and have nowhere to put but like I said they were irresistible.

 

And I did find spots for them in the end! I replaced the very simple lamp bases I just recently got at IKEA, was able to reuse those lampshades here and I love how they turned out on either side of my bed. Still weird but oh so wonderful!

Snow

Not THAT kind of snow. Thank god!
No, the BEST kind of snow. Snö by Jonas Bohlin and Thomas Sandell for Asplund.

I splurged. In a major way. These cabinets are not inexpensive but I’ve loved them since forever and saved my pennies so I could finally get them. And here they are. Classic. Yay!

New Sofa

There’s quite a bit happening in the living room right now. I guess after almost 18 months of staying here I’m at the stage where the major renovations are done and I’m starting to figure out what we want and need in the rooms. Right after we moved in it was more a matter of filling the space with things we had.

 

As you can see something’s missing under the window.

 

I bought this old sofa on a whim at the local charity shop just after moving in. We needed extra seating and I thought it was kind of fun to mix in with the more contemporary furnishings. Turned out it was just too uncomfortable. While Wille and I do watch TV in the den upstairs we like to hang out downstairs too and also I always felt bad for guests who ended up on that 200+ year old thing. So I sold it for exactly what I paid for it a year ago.

 

Enter a new purchase. Because I‘m splurging on another item (or two actually) the sofa’s a cheapo IKEA one. It has great reviews though from my BFF Anne who sleeps on one just like it every night so I knew it would be comfy.

 

 

It’s MUCH bigger than what was previously there and the shape is so different so it takes a little bit of getting used to but I like it. I don’t like that the cover for the frame’s too big though so I’ll be tossing that in the washer and dryer so it’ll hopefully shrink it to fit better.

 

Mini has enjoyed it from day one.

 

And Wille also has no complaints.

 

So I’m happy.

Bathroom Update

I’ve updated the bathroom a little bit. I grew tired of the yellow chevron and wanted something different. I made a new shower curtain from a fabric that resembles denim and added new art. Haha, loose one sailor, get another!

 

The biggest update is this though. A fancy new skylight! Yay!

 

And here’s a reminder why the old ones (in here and in Wille’s room) needed to be switched out. Major relief.

Third Time's a Charm

So after that post where I showed you the dotty wallpaper I panted over it.

 

A bold yellow on one wall and the rest white.

 

I picked the yellow because I already have some bright yellow accent pieces dotted around the house.

 

But it was only up for a couple of days and then I painted over it all again.

 

Now it’s a calm and soothing white. What can I say. White is me. I’m happy now. The color looks a bit yellow in this shot but it’s actually pure white above and below that grey piece of trim (that I might also paint white once I’ve decided what to do with the stairs.

 

I added some temporary art until I’ve found the perfect piece/s. The frame on the left holds a wallpaper scrap original to the house and the frame on the left images of Wille from when he was a toddler.

 

Still figuring out what to do with the stairs but I’ll get there!
