Yay!
Last week Wille graduated from Gymnasiet!
I'm a Swedish blogger with an eighteen year old son and two sweet cats, Mini & Bonus.
Congratulations to your son ! You must be so proud and happy ! Mine is 3.5 years old, and I can't yet imagine him going to high-school, let alone graduating in cap, tie and pointy shoes ... Let the summer vacation begin !

Congratulations to both. You must be such a proud Mum, Benita. Love Willie´s colour combinations. We were so lucky with the beautiful weather we had last week too - for the all the graduation celebrations not to mention THE wedding. Here in Uppsala the heavens opened yesterday,Sunday and today it´s pouring with rain. Ho hum.

Congratulations, Wille! And to you, too - as parents, you and Martin must be puffed up with pride :) Finishing this level of school is always such an achievement and you will all be relieved that it's done with for now - I know that is how my daughters and I felt.
Now I'm interested to hear Wille's plans - will he take a gap year or is he going straight into further education or some other training?! (I'm not sure what the norm is in Sweden!)

Thanks all! Yes, we're very proud :)
Mel - Wille will take a leap year from studying. This summer he'll be working in my office for a month and after that he's applied to several paid internships. He'll know if he gets one at the beginnig of July. If he doesn't he'll get any job he can and possibly travel a bit. It's quite common to take a leap year over here.

Many congratulations to Wille and you and Martin, he does look smart, and he'll enjoy looking at photos of himself and friends in their formal wear. We don't have anything comparable in the UK, as we only have ceremonies at the end of university. At school, it's just not going in again after the last exam. Last day of classes there's usually a special assembly, and in some areas students all sign each others' uniform shirts, as they won't wear them again. That's usually at 16, as the next level drops uniform. Yours looks more fun. Best wishes, Mal

Hi there! Congratulations to Wille and of course to you and Martin as well! I do hope that Wille will do some traveling. Would he travel with friends or family and where would he be interested in traveling to? I have heard kids (ahem... young men his age) backpacking through Europe and staying at hostels. Would you be ok with that?

Sandy - I'm totally ok with him traveling on his own or with friends. Besides he's an adult so I don't really have a say :). He enjoys traveling with us but I think it's better to travel with friends, you learn so much more that way. He got quite a bit of cash as gifts for graduation so he might use some for a diving cerificate and then I assume he'd want to go travel somewhere where the fish are pretty :). I keep saying he should go on a work/tourist visa to Australia! There should be some pretty awesome diving there.

Benita have Wille take a look at Turks and Caicos Islands online! May not be where he would like to stay of course on a VISA, but to visit and experience the diving world. My nephew does diving as well and just returned from 3 weeks being on the islands solely diving. The pictures of him diving is out of this world ... BEAUTIFUL. It's a another whole world under the sea. AMAZING! He's very much into exotic fish and has a huge salt water aquarium in his home.

Congratulations, Benita and Wille! Nice outfit!
It is kind of strange but I dreamed about you couple of days ago, it was really hard winter with heavy snow storm and I was lost in Stockholm and was desperated, it was getting darker and darker I spent all my money...then you invited me to your home nad gave me some food and drink, some old Willes books to read at the evening and suggested if I like we can do some DIY together...you see, you are helping us even in our dreams ;-))
