Remember my tray set up behind the stove to protect the tile and make for easier cleaning. I really love it and it’s so much easier to wipe that the subway tile and grout.
For winter I wasn’t feeling the green anymore so I got another tray in navy (LOVING navy right now although I do know that my favorite green apparently is THE color at the moment). I also switched the dish drainer out for the white version. La-la-love this look and I love how easily a switch of trays can change the mood in the kitchen.
Hi Benita ! Speaking about metro tiles ... We're going to have such tiles in our new apartment's kitchen and bathroom. The grout will be white too. We've hesitated a long time on this choice, because of the difficulty of cleaning/maintaining facette tiles and white grout.
Any tip you'd be willing to share as to this issue ?
That would truly make my day.
Hugs from Germany.

I have quite wide grout and you might want to look into a more narrow placement of the tile. The more grout there is, the more there is that can get dirty... Be sure to seal the grout after the proper curing time, it helps prevent dirt from sticking to it and makes for easier cleaning. In the kitchen the tray really helps. I'm sure the grout behind the stove would have been dingy by now had I not used it. As for the beveled edges, they are trickier to wipe doewn than flat tiles but not impossible :).

So clean, the drainer is really nice.
I wonder what type of drawer you have there under the sink? Is it very narrow?
What do you store there?

Thanks :) What a quick response !!!
Our tiler will try to my the grout as narrow as possible, but he said it's trickier with facette tiles (I don't quite get why) ... And the grout will be epoxy-like so nothing is (supposedly) going to stick. But I'm not holding my breath on that. Doing some extra sealing above the oven and sink won't be a luxury.
... and I might copy your idea of a tray backsplash. I love the possibilities of changing the mood easily and of the easy cleaning.
Have a good day, and thanks again for your great blog !

Wow, I think I'm really lucky, I have this long chiffon dress in emerald green from last year. I hope I can rock it this summer :)

It's an illusion :). No drawer, just a handle so it all matches. The drawer at the bottom is also fake since it's all a big one for the trach cans etc. Sneaky...

simple changes are the best and this time of year just what the Dr. called for. I love your style!

This is such a smart idea. I had a backsplash put in behind my stove last year that just is a bear to clean. Time to get a tray!

The elephant tray is lovely! Is it my imagination or did your draining rack change from green to transparent as well? Your attention to detail is inspiring!

It's white laminate with metal edge.

Yes, and I even mentioned it in the post :)

I love your blog, have been following it for some time now :-)
Where did you find the draining rack? I have been looking everywhere for it, but I can't find it here in Skåne, nor on the web...

It's by Boon and I got it on Amazon!

I know it is, just as I'm veering more towards navy... :)

Hi Benita, I love your exhaust hood. Can you tell me the name of it? I'm sure we can't get it here in the U.S. since I have never seen anything like it.

It (and the rest of the kitchen) is from IKEA. I can't seen to find it on the US site though unfortunately but they may still have it in their showroom. Here's the stainless steel version (can't find the white) on the Swedish site so you can get the name: http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/catalog/products/80156568/
