The tree’s all set up! And it’s a beauty! We got the free tree at the local shopping center as a promo thing and when you get it it’s in a net and you have no idea what it will look like opened out. But either they only have pretty trees or we’ve been lucky two years in a row because both trees have been awesome. Yes, there are some needles on the floor but they fell of when placing the tree in its base and not a lot has dropped since actually.
Here it is all decked out. I’ve never had a simpler tree than this one. It took me about ten minutes to put the lights and the decorations up.
A few little white and silver birdies.
These are actually earrings. We have regular sample sales at work and I never buy anything since I don’t wear a lot of jewelry and don’t have any other girls to buy for except for my mom who’s wading in the stuff already. So during a recent sample sale I said to myself “these big earrings would look nice in the tree!” and they do!
The Mr and Missus are up too of course, and there’s another earring just above Mr on the right. Also in the tree are some of the clay ornaments I made and some silky and some fuzzy white baubles.
White and simple, that’s the name of the game this year.
Ps. Happy St. Lucia!
It looks stunning Benita - especially against its white background. Love the delicate birds and Mr and Missus. Can't wait to play tree at the weekend xo

Oh, it's beautiful! I just love the Mr and Missus. If you wanted to do mass production of them I bet you could sell a lot, and I'd be your first customer! We'll also be putting up our tree this weekend - cutting one from the woods on our property like the country folk we are :)

The Mr. and Missus are so darn cute I can hardly stand it. I loved the post when you made them - but on your tree they're just the cutest little couple ever!
The earrings are a brilliant touch. Gives your tree just enough bling.
Have you ever done a post on your tree stand? I really like that too.

The earring idea is really smart! Cool, I like!
Posted by: Katharina | December 13, 2012 at 05:13 AM
I don't think I have. I got it last year from a Swedish web shop that I can't remember the name of. It was brown, as in unfinished wood but I painted it white. Of course.

That sounds so nice :) And a little bit of glögg after getting in from the snow on top of that!

Tjusigt Benita!

Lovely!
LOL - the reason for buying the earrings. My friend from Canada just posted on FB that her daughter picked clarinet as the instrument to play in the school band. The reason for this choice? Not because she likes the sound, not because her Mom played it, not because it's a wind instrument. The reason: because it fits in her locker! :-). Kind of like "Why did you buy these earrings, Benita?"
"To put them on my Christmas tree, of course!"
LOL

Hahahaha, I thought so! I have the same one, but in a brownish wood. Good looking tree!

Many thanks Benita! It's absolutely beautiful. The simple lines of it work beautifully with your tree.
I can tell I'm going to have to make a trip there if only to shop ;-) I'm still longing for the little town you got that has the votives.

Love the photos, MG... You must be so happy with your new camera!!

Your tree looks gorgeous! Thanks for the post about making air dry clay ornaments - my daughters and I followed you lead and made our own. (http://allatseacraft.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/handmade-decorations-pt2-easy-advent.html). I would have liked to keep ours white and have a simple tree but the children wanted a bit more colour, although I won the tinsel argument - it got left in storage this year.

beautiful! we have just put our tree up too!

I am, I loooove it!

Kanonfin!
Posted by: smile | December 13, 2012 at 10:47 AM
Posted by: Carlos | December 13, 2012 at 10:52 AM
Posted by: Carlos | December 13, 2012 at 10:54 AM
Oh YES. Warm glögg in front of the warm fire with the smell of Christmas tree in the house. Nothing better!

Your tree is gorgeous! The tree stand is perfect.

hi benita! i LOVE your tree. our's is tooo full for me. it's amazing it came from that wadded up, netted thing! and i worry about my floors...cuz we have to put water in our base...do you?
Posted by: katie | December 13, 2012 at 01:07 PM
Benita. It's a beautiful tree. Simple and clean, and light. I love it.
I love that you don't have it loaded down with strings of light, too. I think we overdid ours. You could probably see it from space. ha.

Haha!
Posted by: Carlos | December 13, 2012 at 03:02 PM
I have water in the base too but it's contained like in a metal cup so i's not just a tube going into the wood. Not a lot fits in there though so I refill a little every day.
Posted by: Carlos | December 13, 2012 at 03:03 PM
how great is your tree stand! just lovely!
Posted by: molly | December 13, 2012 at 03:11 PM
How does that base work? Can you give the ree water? Does it keep it from toppling over? In the US all our bases are wide and red and green colored, with an open bottom with a tray, for watering:

Benita, you are amazing! Thanks so much for taking the time to find and post this.
Posted by: Vickie | December 13, 2012 at 03:41 PM
The metal tube is a container which you fill with water. Not a lot fits in there but I fill it up every day and that's really all there's to it. At the top of the metal tube there are three screw thingies that you turn until they hold the tree up straight.
Posted by: Carlos | December 13, 2012 at 03:44 PM
That explains a lot! LOL
I bet if you lived here the red and green tree stand would have been spray painted already!

The name of the game is white, simple and Lovely Lovely Lovely :)

Benita, I've been using large earrings on our tree for a few years now. Especially the large ones which I would never wear but love to look at.
Posted by: Luna | December 13, 2012 at 09:33 PM
I am quite jealous of your tree. I wish we had that type in Australia.
Have you thought about marketing Mr and Missus?
I think they are adorable.
Posted by: the spectator | December 14, 2012 at 12:34 AM
oOOO. Earrings as ornaments.
*bling*!
Posted by: Jenn | December 14, 2012 at 02:46 AM
I also loved how they turned out but no, there won't be massproduction :)
Posted by: Carlos | December 14, 2012 at 04:40 AM

Benita, I've been reading your blog for a long time, I just love it! And your Christmas tree is the nicest of all trees I've seen on blogs, it's beautiful. And thank you so much for the link the stand, too, I was wondering about that as well, it looks great! Happy Christmas!
