While I’m getting accustomed to my new camera (yay!) I thought I’d let you know that I finished watching all the episodes of Sex And The City!
A couple of weeks ago I was home sick with a bad cold and that’s basically when I devoured it all. I wasn’t impressed with the first and second seasons but got quite hooked when I’d gone through about half the DVDs and by the last season I was actually quite sad to see it end. The last season was my favorite actually. My favorite character is Charlotte (who’s the most like me I guess just like Monica’s my favorite Friend) + friend Anthony but over all I thought it was cast really well. I wasn’t particularly keen on Amanda or Miranda in the beginning but they both kind of grew on me after a while and I’ve always kind of liked SJP ever since LA Stories back in 1991.
So now’s the big question. To watch or not to watch the movies?
Happy weekend!
The first movie is better than the second, but I liked them both. The plot of the second was much much more farfetched, so if you go in knowing it's going to be kind of crazy it's easier to watch. I've heard they're in talks for a third one.

I really loved the final season of the show--I was surprised how MUCH I loved it. I think the last two episodes are brilliant television. I still laugh my head off when Big arrives in Paris and she trips him on the stairs in the hotel.
I enjoyed the first movie--there were a lot of payoffs for long-time fans.
I thought the second movie was appalling. Foolish, self-indulgent, arrogant. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. It was an embarrassment for everyone involved.

Do watch!
The first one is actually good. The second is blahhhh, a big dissapointment.

Listen to Charlotte - she's exactly right. And has a lovely name.

You were fast watching the series! I too love Charlotte and the bold Jewish guy she ended up with. That couple was the best.
I say watch the movies, but don't expect much from them.

Charlotte is my favourite too! And I say, watch the first movie, forget about the second.

Another vote for watching the first and movie and not the second. The first one kind of wraps up the whole TV series and the second one is just not... good.

I kinda liked the first movie and had a hard time watching the second one as it was blah.
But speaking of our faces? Which apartment did you guys like most? I loved Carrie's pad in the episodes and was really
dissappointed after the remodeling. Petrovskys pad is also amazing!

The series is very good. The first movie is kinda good, the second is BS.

I love the series, I watch it all over, when I am in the mood. I liked both movies, but first was definitely more realistic, the second one for me was far over the top, but you have to see it to make up your own opinion.

i give the first one 7 (nice, but a bit sickly with all the love thing); the second one... don't watch it. everyone who loved the series deserves good memories.

I think you should absolutely watch the first movie but definately skip the second.

I didn't really love any of the pads but I liked the NY ambiance of them. I wouldn't have minded a Brooklyn townhouse though but with my own stuff in it.

I love the series, my favorite character is def. Charlotte, she is so cute! :) Watched the first movie! But I want to buy the second one soon.

I also have to agree that the first movie is better than the second, however the second one does have some interesting details/situations in it.

Watch the first movie, avoid the second one like the plague!

I'm a big fan of SATC and I say, watch the first movie, watch the second and love them for what the are. Have no high expectations, just enjoy!

The first one is really good - the second one isn't!
You never said - Mr. big or Aidan if you had to pick?

Haven't thought about it but since you ask maybe Aidan?
Posted by: Carlos | November 02, 2012 at 10:06 AM
benita the movies are not good, but you can watch them just to see the outfits... ;)
Posted by: paula c | November 02, 2012 at 10:07 AM
As a diehard SATC fan...I'd say definitely watch the first movie as I think it wraps up everything nicely and enjoy the second one for what it really is. Yes, it's definitely "out there" and frivolous at times, but I didn't mind it as much as the others commenting. Then again...I adore Morroccan/Middle Eastern/Moorish architecture and design, so for me it was a feast for the eyes.

Ah, see, that's what I liked the least about the series, all the whacky clothes. I preferred Carrie on the rare occasion she was just wearing a tank and jeans.
Posted by: Carlos | November 02, 2012 at 10:17 AM
My vote is for the first movie only... would definitely choose Big and liked Meg Ryan's apartment (and little shop) on You've Got Mail (although I guess I'd take Charlotte's if you twisted my arm...)

Go and watch both! The First one is better, but I recommend to watch both....
Posted by: Tina Rawatta | November 02, 2012 at 11:14 AM
First movie was good. Second wasn't as good, but you have to see how their stories continue. :) Otherwise you'll always wonder ... LOL
Posted by: Amy | November 02, 2012 at 11:15 AM
Husband and I were huge fans of the show. Loved the first movie, hated the second.
Posted by: Heather | November 02, 2012 at 11:26 AM
Definetly worth watching, I love the colorfull scenes and some of the clothes are just georgeous :)
Posted by: Soulmaz | November 02, 2012 at 12:16 PM
The first movie was OK, the second was really bad. I think you can watch either of them while doing something else, e.g. organizing drawers, sawing a button on a shirt, etc. Then you won't feel that you totally waisted 2 hours of your time.
Have a great weekend.

The first movie is really good but the second is disappointing.
Posted by: Debbie | November 02, 2012 at 01:08 PM
I found both S&TC movies disappointing. The best character of the TV series was New York City, which was showcased beautifully.
Posted by: Elizabeth NYC | November 02, 2012 at 02:13 PM
Agree with majority...yes for first, waste of time for second.
Posted by: Karen from Virginia | November 02, 2012 at 03:44 PM
The second movie was so disapointing. Have you watched the original "Planet of the Apes"? If so you can compare to how the movie was amazing and then the franchise begun to decline, in that it had nothing to do with the original any more. If you liked the characters, do watch the movies but do keep an open mind. The first movie was not bad, it was more like an extended episode (or a mini-season). The second movie... oh, the second movie... no it wasn't good. I was glad to see the characters again but they were caricatures. And the writing was really awful. I'm glad you liked the series. Season 1 in my opinion was bad and boring but the other ones compensate. And Carrie was a fool to let go of Aidan. Come on, he was the perfect guy! Yes yes Br Big was her soulmate. But Aidan was such a decent, sweet guy, no?

Watch the first movie and forget about the second ;-)
Posted by: Account Deleted | November 02, 2012 at 05:12 PM
watch the first movie, and then if you really really want to see the characters again, watch the second. it isn't very good, pretty stupid. but don't miss the first one!
i got a late start to satc too. i bought the seasons when they were on sale really cheap at christmas one year, then got hooked.
Posted by: rae | November 02, 2012 at 06:12 PM
Agree. The first one is decent - no where near the caliber of the show, but it's worth watching.
The second movie is offensive. Seriously, it was just so, so terrible. The writers didn't even stay true to the characters. And the problems the characters face are just silly (which is saying a lot). It is really not worth your time, and you may want to pluck your eyeballs out of your head within the first 20 minutes. I just pretend that it never happened.

Watch them - save them for a rainy day x
Posted by: Hxx | November 02, 2012 at 08:38 PM
Watch the first movie, I actually liked it better than the television show. The second movie isn't terrible, I suppose, but I would not spend any money in order to watch it. I watched it once, & I won't again.

don't!!!
Posted by: ann | November 02, 2012 at 11:24 PM
After watching all those episodes you have to watch the movies!! they are good escapism and the clothes are a scream to watch especially the second movie. I love your blog its the first email I read everyday :-)

I would say, if you HAVE TO watch beyond the series, watch THE END of the first movie :)

Je suis absolument d'accord avec Charlotte. Absolutely right!
Posted by: Gladys | November 03, 2012 at 11:16 AM
I love the serie! I have been holding that same "shoe box" several times in a store but have never bought it. I think I finaly should. Or maybe I'll try sending a wish list to Santa and wait if he brings the box to me this year. If not, it's time for me to go do some shopping!
PS. Sorry that I stick on a little things but I think you ment Samantha when you wrote Amanda?
Posted by: Jannina Lahti | November 05, 2012 at 05:41 AM
Yes, of course! :)
Posted by: Carlos | November 05, 2012 at 05:43 AM
Intressant!

I agree! The second movie was horrible.
