As you may know already one of my projects this summer was to do a lot of painting in the basement. While I was at it I did the bedroom ceiling.
I also gave the floor a fresh coat. I only painted it a year ago but in some areas the red color from before crept up and really annoyed me so I re-sanded those spots and painted again.
I also added a plush rug earlier and now have semi matching trays on the old ottomans that serve as bedside tables. Oh, and matching lamps. I might still switch the bedside tables out. Will bring down one of Wille's to try if they work because I'd like a bit of storage.
The blue and white curtains are still going strong hiding all the storage along that one wall.
Here’s the view of the other side of the bed and those are the stairs you come down into the basement on. Will need to address them somehow as they’re super worn but unfortunately not in a “patina” good way, but rather a more of a trashy one.
Still to do is building a headboard. I have it all figured out, just need the time to actually do it. Ah, time, there’s never enough, is there?
I really like your bedroom, it feels so fresh and clean. I'd love to wake up in similar room. Love the gray accents.
I have headboard plans too. :)

NEVER. ENOUGH. TIME!!! A very calming bedroom! The only thing I would add is a couple of pictures on the wall...but then it might not be as calming anymore? ;)

i love your bedroom very relaxing.
aren't scared to be a little cold in winter?

I actually moved down there while it was winter and it's not cold at all. Tere's a big radiator in there and the heat from the dryer in the laundry room also warms the space up quite a bit.

Serene and cozy.

It actually looks quite cosy!

This room looks so peaceful, quiet and comfy. I'm still loving that blue curtain fabric - cheerful without disturbing the peace.

I like your bedroom. I can imagine that at night with those lamps on it is quite cozy. I have a couple general questions. I haven't seen personal photos, do you avoid using them? Family photos as well as ones you have taken (you have taken many beautiful ones) are missing., I think. Do you like looking out your front windows or your back windows best? I like both your views so I was wondering which you prefer and why. It's fresh food time here, what are you eating? I'm always curious about life where you live.

I prefer the back view because it's towards the park but I also don't mind the front view. It's a cosy neighborhood with really nice neighbors :).

Love that simple grey blanket. Is it wool? What other bed linens are beneath it?
Posted by: SFDC | August 09, 2012 at 10:18 AM
It looks nice and fresh and cozy at the same time. I still really like the blue curtains. The blanket and rug look so comfy.

Agree with all the above--what a pretty, restful and cozy room. It seems to demand that you unwind and relax.

Beautiful bedroom! The rug makes the room look so soft and warm :o)
Where do you buy privacy film?

Calm, serene and comfy! And you always seem to have so much more time than I do...why is that? (I know the answer to that...you are an organizational genius and I'm just...well...not.)

WOW, it´s almost impossible to believe that this is that dark and ugly decor painted basement room that you showed us in the beginning!! It´s a real room now! Like any other room. NOT "basement" at all.
Congrats!

I totally agree! That's the best about this rooom, you can't tell anymore that it's the basement! Love it.

It's from IKEA!
Posted by: Carlos | August 09, 2012 at 01:48 PM
The blanket's actually fleece. There's also a white cotton bedsheet, white cotton pillow cases and a white cotton duvet cover. I like my white cotton :).

Perfect and serene!

Oh that is lovely! I'm glad to read above that it's warm. So it's not damp? How do you take care of that?
Have you considered some crown molding and some pretty baseboard molding? Hmmm come to think of it you may like the cleaner, simpler lines better?

This room is a triumph.
Posted by: the spectator | August 09, 2012 at 08:40 PM
I guess I'm lucky to have a dry basement. All I've done is keep the heat on down there and paint it all so it feels fresh. Oh, I also installed a dryer in the laundry room and that gives off a bit of heat which also helps I guess.
I haven't considered molding as I prefer to keep it simple :).

Looks very nice, I love how bright the room looks despite it being in a basement!

I love your room! Especially the little shelf above the bed, which is something I've been considering but my husband's worried about bumping heads on it and knocking things off. How far above the bed is yours?
Posted by: Becca | August 10, 2012 at 11:57 AM
I can sit in bed without hitting my head on it so maybe you can have hubby sit in bed and you make a mark just above his head for where the picture ledge goes :).

So nice to meet you, Benita! I followed Sherry's link from YHL too and I am so glad that I did. I feel like we are kindred spirits when it comes to loving an organized space :)My heart sings too when I sort through stuff, pair down, and organize a space! I have been reading through your blog archives (March 2011 +) to see your new home transform from the beginning and I love it! I'm part Norwegian and I love getting a dose of every day Scandinavian culture from your blog. Look forward to reading your blog daily :)

love yr picture ledge ;) i thought of putting one above the bed like yrs but i;m not keen to constantly have to dust it, with the dust landing on the bed below...i'm also not sure what to put there since i've not collected any suitable art pieces and i don't fancy putting my photo there...
