I’m curious.
It’s been a while since I asked you what you find most interesting here at Chez Larsson. I’m not asking because I aim to please. I’m asking because I have a feeling that I’ve gained some new readers lately and have probably lost some too in the last year when my focus changed from posting about about a finished house to moving and renovating a new one. I know I sometimes loose interest in blogs that don’t “deliver” what I’m used to getting. So now I’m curious about those of you who are still around from early on and also those of you who are new here. What are your favorite types of posts? I’m not saying I’ll be changing anything, I’m just curious.
Is it organizing? Crafts? DIY? Decorating? Housekeeping? Daily life? Something else? I’d love to hear!
Ps. Thanks for the tulips Anne!
Hi Benita
I love the organising and decorating but also just what day to day life is like in Sweden. Also coming from Australia I love seeing your photos of snow and living in the far northern hemisphere!

Hi Bettina. I most enjoy your decorating posts. Whether you're solving a problem or just seasonally changing things around I love your aesthetic and find it most compliments my own design ideas for life and home. Your how-to's are great as well but I'm not as game as you are to tackle big jobs.

I am also from Australia and love all your posts I am very glad the 365 posts are back. It is so great to read a well written blog whatever the topic! I like your DIY posts very much as well Thanks.

I stumbled upon your blog by mistake and soon enough found myself totally in love with this blog. I too ended a very long marriage just over a year ago, sold the family home and purchased a much smaller home which I am sharing with my son and dog so our journeys have been quite similar. I work outside the home to support us all and when I do have some spare time I enjoy decorating and keeping all our stuff/business quite simple and organised.
Your DIY's, organising and daily musings keep me inspired and I look forward to catching up on your blog from sunny Sydney, Australia - love, love what you do !!!

I love the housekeeping specially the organizing part. When you have a toddler, it's hard to keep the house organized. After I read your blog, I get inspirations. I get so envy that I feel there's need to clean up : ) I've been a quiet fan forever. - Ella from Manila

I've been visiting for quite awhile now and I've never grown tired! I love your organizing, decorating, renovating, and crafting posts. I like seeing daily life as well but I'm more partial to everything else. I'm always inspired by the things you dream up! Keep going!

I read your blog every single day and love it all! I love your lists, and seeing the crazy amount of stuff you seem able to accomplish. I enjoy seeing your solutions to problems that I realize have also been driving me crazy in my own home - and i wonder why I didn't think to do that! Reading about your daily life and holidays in Sweden are very interesting as well.
Thank you for the inspiration!

I love all things Chez Larsson because you blog about your own projects and use your own photos. I always hope for organizing or DIY-posts, but appreciate the mix also. Kram fra Norge

I like your mix of everything as well. I really like your decorating, new products (loved when you went to NY and brought back all sorts of wonderful things - I ran to JCP to buy the towels you recommended), organizing and DIY - you are so creative. I did want to mention that I read your blog everyday. I am grateful that you blog everyday. Even through your tough personal times - you blogged everyday. I hope life is full of joy and beauty , thank you for sharing with all of us...every day.

I am a British mid-30s Mum of 3 young children and I think I stumbled on your blog while looking for Swedish home blogs. I am mad about Sweden, having lived there as an exchange student some 19 years ago - jag talar svenska fortfarande tom! I really enjoy your disciplined approach to organisation and can-do approach to DIY and little nuggets of Swedish culture.

Hej Benita,

Hello Benita,
I enjoy reading your blog for, I would say 2 years now. And still enjoying it. The post I like the most are those about decorating en DIY.
Your blog is part of my daily morning-routine, thank you for blogging every single day!
Posted by: Elma | January 12, 2012 at 05:27 AM
I've read every post you've ever done, as I'm sure many have. What keeps me coming - even though I rarely comment these days - are two things (I aspire to the first and despair of ever succeeding in the second!):
1) your forthrightness. I feel that you give us an honest look at your life and your home, and you are unapologetic about your choices, any setbacks and the little quirks we all have. I love it. I found you through Katie Bower back in the day, and those are the same things I appreciate about her blog.
2) your gorgeous photography. You can take a picture of your garbage can and I will think it is charming. Of course, knowing you, it probably IS charming.
In answer to your question, I suppose your content hasn't mattered that much to me. I just like your style.

Heja dig granne!

God morgen fra Norge :)
I'm a periodic reader of blogs, also this one. But for the last six months or so I have been fairly regular. I come here mostly for all your clever DIY solutions in the home, creative things like the cushion cover yesterday. You also seem to be a good hunter of products online, I have learned quite a bit about primers etc. that you have recommended.

Dear Benita, I've been following your blog for a while, and I always come everyday ( when I can) and never disappointed! I love every DIY you make, and how you explain it, it's always amazing. Just keep doing this way, pls! As you see we are a crowd following you every day!TXs!

Hi there - your blog is the very first blog I read each day and I love it because, as a not-very-organised-person myself, I usually find something inspiring here to help me find some focus... and pretty pics of your lovely home too. I like the way you roll up your sleeves and tackle all kinds of work as I'm a keen decorator and you provide lots of insight and tips. Thank you! x

Hej Benita,

I am from New Zealand and I LOVE your blog. For me it ticks over at 7pm which happily coincides with me putting the children to bed and getting my first bit of peace and quiet of the day I really enjoy the variety your blog offers. I LOVE your style, I really like finding out bits and pieces about your day to day life in Sweden. I have particularly enjoyed watching you 'do up' your new house and I love your ideas for organising, so practical, money wise and thoughtful. Keep doing what you're doing. You've got one very satisfied reader in me!!

I check in every morning and love your aesthetic and your before/afters, plus I'm fascinated with your heightened sense of organisation! I am a huge fan of Scandinavia even though I've never been, and love trying to decipher the Swedish comments ;) We are around the same age, I guess, and I also have a cat, which helps in a sense of identification, otherwise we aren't very similar - I am a mother of 3 girls and grandmother to 2 and have a dog and a pony and my home is neither as minimalist nor as white as yours, nor am I trying to make it so, but I do love to see your take on life, your attitudes, your taste and so on and there are touchpoints everywhere. Thanks for putting the work into it all for your readers!
Also, I still haven't worked out how come your English is so fantastic?! (I have 3 nationalities and have lived in Switzerland forever, although my mothertongue is English!).
Posted by: MelD | January 12, 2012 at 06:01 AM
what i like best are organising tips (i'm a total disaster in that area), Diy (it's inspiring to have someone telling uo you can do things by yourself because it's not that difficult) and decorating (as an owner of a new &empty house i'm in constant research of new ideas). thanks for your dedication to your blog !!

Morning Benita!
I'm a 30-something english mom of two and I found your blog just a few months ago. I've been an avid daily reader ever since (in fact, at the end of a long and busy day, if there's not a lot on the TV and i don't have a craft project on the go ... i like to go and visit your old posts and read through those too!) I find everything about your site reassuring, relaxing and calm. Perhaps it's all that cool white space?!
I love all types of posts and read them avidly regardless of whether they are about organizing sock drawers or major remodelling jobs.
much love,
Carol

Hi Benita !
It's funny you're asking your readers this question, because I thought very recently that the tone/content of your blog had slightly changed. I have the feeling your blog is less dense with regard to "heavy duty" DIY work and step-by-step decoration projects which require more than a few hours' work. It seems to me you have also introduced more "lighter" posts where you communicate with your readers on daily stuff.
I still love reading your blog though ! People change, their lives evolve, and their blogs change too (especially when one posts every day as you do), it's almost organic.
What draws me to your blog is first and foremost your positive attitude, energy and creativity. It really gives me a boost in the morning next to my cup of coffee :)
But to answer your question more directly, this is what I prefer reading on your blog:
Your gardening posts of last year (I ADORED your love/hate attitude to gardening !) -
The posts on organising your house in terms of space (remodeling of the kitchen, how you fit a PAX wardrobe in your bedroom nook, etc.) -
The posts on organisation in general (I LOVE organised drawers) -
The posts on Swedish/Scandinavian way of life (especially because you are not a traditionalist) -
The posts with decoration tips.
I also like looking at the many pictures of your house you're posting, for inspiration.
Have a good day Benita, and thanks for generously keeping up such a good blog and source of pleasure/inspiration for us all !

I`ve been following you for a couple of years now, but I haven`t commented on your blog for a while. I found your blog through the "Perfectly Pretty" blog, and was so happy to see a fellow Scandinavian blogging about home improvements. I have been obsessing about organizing for the last years, so my absolute favorite posts are the posts where you give us the chance to look in too your kitchen drawers and cupboards! It inspires me A LOT!! I have managed to get rid of 2/3 of everything we have - and thus getting rid of the MESS. I also love your light and crisp Scandinavian decorating style!
So the posts I visit again and again are: organizing/Crafts/DIY/Decorating.

"Is it organizing? Crafts? DIY? Decorating? Housekeeping? Daily life? "
All of it actually. But most of all what is happening in the house, changes you make, new stuff, how to, and so on. Sprinkled with a bit of Mini and Bonus of course. Have read your blog daily for a bit more than a year, and I still do every morning. Enjoy it immensely.

I live in Germany and check in everyday, usually just after 6am when there´s a new post. My favorites are your decorating and organizing tips. Then come the Swedish life/family/personal bits. It is a bit like a soap opera sometimes (in a good way!). Thanks so much for your blog. <3
Posted by: Mary | January 12, 2012 at 06:49 AM
I guess I'm repeating what so many have already said, but here's my two cents:
The posts of yours that I like the most are the organizing ones. Whether it's about corralling little stuff or making sense of an odd corner of a room, that's the stuff I desperately need in my world so when I see your unfailingly great solutions it's an epiphany. You've helped this household more than you know!
Love your crafts too, but I'm usually all thumbs when it comes to things like that so I just read those posts and try not to have a panic attack imagining doing them myself :)
Then there are the more personal posts - about little runaround Bonus and Miss Mini, things Wille is up to, what's happening with you - those are so fun to read, because after having followed your blog so long it feels a little more like a chat over coffee each morning than just reading random words.
So! That was the long way of saying: I love it all!

I read your blog each day for all of the reasons that you mentioned, along with the fact that you too are in Sweden (but writing in English, which rocks when SFI makes one yawn) but mostly because you're nice. I have deduced this from the helpful replies you have sent on where to find stuff in Sweden and also because you're really really neat/tidy. So am I. Ha ha ha. So don't start blogging in Swedish just yet :-)
Have a great day!

Decorating! And I always enjoy hearing about your cats. I also enjoy reading about the Swedish aesthetic and seeing things that we don't have here in the U.S. More pictures of other typical Swedish homes would be great, but your blog is wonderful as is. Thank you!

Dear Benita - I've been following your blog for 1-2 years. I remember your NY holiday and noted details as I was going there too. I remember Martin's post when you were away - very amusing. I remember when you and Martin separated - it was a real shock. It's all odd isn't it because it is mostly one-way communication - I rarely comment.
However I have never been bored with your blog and I have been fascinated by your sharing the process of moving - from finding the house to the subsequent changes. I am amazed at your organisation and energy - and, as someone who lives alone, when I find myself thinking it is too hard to do by myself - I just think of you.
I admire your skills and am inspired by your accomplishments. Thank you for taking the time to blog

Hej Benita

benita,
I've been following you for little over a year now, ever since we were close to buying a house and I was trying to get inspirations.
what do I like most about your blog? it is probably the balanced mix of everything. plus the neatness of your house. and your committment to the blog - I regularly read it on my way to work, it is the first page I hit. :-)
being the mother of a three-year-old and having not yet bought the house I'd like to apply all my diy ideas to, it is probably your decorating, organizing and housekeeping posts that inspire me most. I've even picked up your idea of a candle drawer, so you see this habit spreading to germany! ;-) I also enjoy shopping tips for europe, as many of the other decoration/diy blogs I am following are from the US and most of the things I see are not available over here...
it's amazing how much time and energy you put into both decorating/diy-ing and blogging. keep it up, benita - it's great fun following you!

I love EVERYTHING Chez Larsson! I appreciate how you mix things up. But I do get particularly giddy when I see an Organizing, DIY or Holiday post. No need for me to tell you this, but just go with your instincts on the development of the blog. After all, you've done well by them thus far. : ) Keep up the great work! I count down the minutes each morning until I know the latest post is online.

I like organising the best, followed by crafts and daily life.

I check your blog most days as part of my daily routine.

I like all of it. I like how you write and I like the clean look of your photos. I favour (in descending order: ) DIY - especially the step by step tutorials - Organizing - Crafts - Housekeeping. But I also like anything else you write. I appreciate that you have one post every weekday. I would like to have the same self-control.
Just go on, I will follow. :-)

i love about your blog:
- the to do lists from a long time ago.... i love to do list... and to follow the progress on yours
- before/afters (decorating, organization, gardening ...who would have thought the new house could ever look like THAT!)
- blogs with lots of photos.
- blogs on how you organize your-self

I love your organizing and crafts, but I don't mind the personal stuff too. Great blog! I have been a follower for maybe two years now and I don't feel that anything has changed so much to make me stop reading it. Thanks for all of the hard work.

Hi Benita, I started reading your blog in 2010 but stopped when studies grew hectic. Picked it up again around June 2011 and had to back read everything as your life had changed so dramatically.
I loved your blog from the old house and would still be reading it if you were still there. Your new blog though has given us a wonderful concentration of projects as you redecorate your new house from dismal to delightful. The reason I love your blog though, the reason I read it before anything else when I get home is because I find it both inspirational and energising.
You have a job, a teenager, financial and time limitations. Yet you slog through, chip away, scrape (oh yes), scrape, scrape away and you achieve. And you have disasters sometimes. You have not only motivated me but also taught me that I don't have to do everything at once, today, perfectly (and its ok to label things-oh what a difference that made!)
I especially love the organisation, DIY, craft projects and housekeeping; and also hearing about daily life in Sweden. I love your photos and clean, white style of decorating and clear, humourous style of writing- both very like you: no frills, genuine, not self-congratulatory, very much down to earth and above all, warm and hospitable. You invite us into your home and life five days a week and I reckon it's a huge privilege. Thank you.

Dear Benita,
I am a rather new reader of your blog,I have followed if for about a year. In the beginning I liked all your DIY and decorating. I still like it, but as I have also moved into a new (but old) home, I really appreciate your renovating tips and the before/after picktures. The cover for your radiator was just perfect! I need to do something in my garden this summer, and I am already looking forward to see what you will do in yours. The best thing about your blog is that you update with new posts so often!

I guess I would consider myself a new reader as I've been following your blog since August. I stumbled upon it by chance, as I was searching for renovation ideas; I too am renovating my apartment.
I would wish to thank you for all your inspiration (I adore skandinavian flair), your organizing ideas and loads of that DIY energy that you spread.
Stay as you are, looking forward to this year's posts!

I have also been following for some time now - I'm English, living in Holland and I just love all the white!! My favourite posts are those that reflect your pure, uncluttered organised style. Lots of photos are always good and I too really like the insight into Swedish living. I'm hoping that by following every day, I too will de-clutter my life and only be surrounded by a sea of white calm!

Hi,
I've been reading for 1-2 years and really enjoy all types of posts, so if I wrote more it would probably just echo many of the above comments. Overall what I love the absolute most about your blog is that you post every single weekday! I LOVE the regularity! I usually do a little work from home before my kids wake up (we live in Boston) and I reward myself for finishing by reading your post. I love knowing that your post will be there waiting for me! Thank-you!
Posted by: monica | January 12, 2012 at 10:29 AM
A bit redundant, but I love all the different aspects of your blog, too! I had sensed something was up with you, and was so fearful that you were tired of writing a blog, as I have come to count on you for daily inspiration...either of your energy, can- do attitude, or clever ideas for crafts, projects, etc. I especially love before and after photos, and organizing ideas. I am a pack-rat and LOVE looking at your design style and minimalist approach to decorating. Also how you are unsentimental about possessions...I can learn so much! I love it when you clear out closets! And did I mention that I love glimpses into Swedish life and all things Scandinavian? If your house is all decorated now, you could show us other things and houses around Sweden or in your travels, as I was fascinated by your recent trip to the museum in Stockholm, especially learning about what was on display, and also the views from the cafeteria window! Others have said this, but your personality comes through your writing, and I think of reading your blog like checking in with a friend for a daily chat. Hope blogging is still rewarding for you, you have certainly given me huge pleasure and encouragement and ideas. Thank you.

I'm a new reader and I love what I read. So please continue with it an keep it DIY and House related. ;)
I'm in to photography too, so a little bit of that would be extra brilliant too. (nerdy tings like exposure times and Iso, and lighting tips.)

Like the others decorating, diy and organising. But i also like the glimpses into swedish life especially when you mention the snow its usually rainign then where i am. I too noticed a slight change in tone recently i thought you might have met someone or needed to get a break from house improvements either way good luck.

I love reading your DIY posts, and I also enjoy your photos which are so full of light. Cat pics are a plus :)

I'm happy to say that your blog is perfect as is!
But being the organization junkie that I am...I'd say that the organizing posts are my absolute favorites.
This year, I really also enjoyed the christmas related posts. It's always interesting to see real life traditions around the world.
Keep up the good work!

Hi Benita,
I have been a daily follower for a long time now. I have wondered myself why I am so drawn to you as I live in a colorful, cluttered, full of kids house in the Oklahoma countryside. I love your "voice," your can-do attitude, and the sense of peace your blog gives. As for content, I love your organization & housekeeping posts, DIY & decorating, and crafts. Everything really! I love the mixture and I have enjoyed watching you transform your new space. But when I need some motivation, I love to go back and look in your drawers and cupboard from the old house. Thanks for the daily, predictable posts. They update at midnight here and I often read before I fall asleep and think about what I can accomplish the next day. If Benita can do it, maybe I can too :)

I have been reading your blog for a couple of years now and it's always the first one I go to (in fact I don't even turn on the PC, I read it on my phone while getting breakfast ready, then come back to it on my reader later in the day when the baby naps). I was first directed here by a bloggy-friend because you are Swedish, but stayed because everything you write or show resonates with me (even though I I don't have your DIY skills, or, it seems, tireless energy). I'm currenly reading through your entire archive and can't get enough. I love the mix of everything. I tire quickly of blogs that write only about one thing, and one thing only. Life is not one dimensional so why the heck should our blogs be, you know?!
Tell me though, where did you learn all you DIY skills. You seem to be well versed at everything. Are you mostly self- taught, did your parents DIY a lot, or have you taken courses?
Posted by: Carin | January 12, 2012 at 11:30 AM
The organizing and DIY mostly, but I also like your decorating style and of course is quite interesting to get a glimpse of the "swedish way of living" (I realize you are only portraing your own way of living but still :) )

I love everything you post. I especially like that there is a mix of all of the topics you mentioned above. There are very few posts that I don't really enjoy reading. I think you are doing a great job on your new house. Your little bedroom nook looks so cozy.

Tack! Anna i North Carolina.

Hi Benita,
I've been reading your blog for about a year now - maybe less. There are many things I enjoy about your blog but what I like most is the simplicity of your style. To me - it it quitnessential Sweden. I love, love, love Pinterest but it seems to me so many of the interiors pinned are so much a like - so homogenized and yours is not. I also admire your ability to take on tasks and find seemingly easy ways to accomplish them. Your photos are beautiful to look at and the blog is an easy quick bit of enjoyment at the start of my workday. Thank you for being so dedicated to it and thanks for asking. Peace.

Ciao Benita,
I arrived here maybe 2 years ago through YHL, and I'm really pleased to read you every day. My favourite mix are you asking? Little craft/decoration projects like yesterday (because I can see myself doing them too), organising tips & Swedish life, of course (I'm just too curious about different cultures). I'm definately envious of your handiness in general!
So keep on, please! Barbara from Bologna, Italy

I love looking at your pictures of your clean, bright house! I find it very peaceful and relaxing to browse through your site. And you don't seem to be selling me anything. A lot of blogs seem to go from the diy/organizing to promoting products. Those are the ones I tend to stop reading.

I'm following your blog for quite a while now. I love the DIY/Organizing posts but also all the other kind of posts you do. Thank you for being so inspiring!

Like so many other, I appreciate the mix of things. There is a great balance between all your clever organizing tips, lovely decorating projects and those little peeks into your everyday life. Honestly I hope you don't change a thing!

I,too,am a daily reader -from Colorado. My favorites are the organization entries, but I appreciate the mix and MOST of all your professionalism in showing up every day of the week. I am not much for either DIY or crafts but enjoy those vicariously. It's always interesting Chez Larrson.

Hi-love the blog, love your style overall. I get alot out of the decorating ideas and organizing tips, and I love at the holidays especially getting a look at life in Sweden. I really liked the 365 day project, and I loved when you would post that day's photograph and the story behind it each day. I think you should let the photos do most of the talking, like you did before.

Something else? I’d love to hear!“
I love all posts about Stockholm, or some swedish customs and organizing posts.
DIY post litte less, but just because I have two left hands. I love 365 project and yes I read every morning one blog (no time that early for more blogs) and this is then your blog.

I've been reading you since september 2008 (reading the comments I'm one of the veterans!) and I must say I love all of your posts, from Mini & Bonus to snippets about Swedish life. But the ones I like the most are the ones about DIY, organizing and housekeeping. You are my Martha!

I'm a new reader and I'm fascinated by all of the organizing you do. I think I read back through most of the organizing posts. I'm not organized so I find it amazing/inspiring/intimidating. I'd love to see more posts related to that topic! I especially love how you use found items as containers. I'm enjoying your blog very much!

Hej!

We learn English at a very early age over here. I started at ten and Wille at six. Also we hear and see English daily via TV :).

Housekeeping and decorating. I love how much you've transformed your current house - amazing!
Posted by: Katy | January 12, 2012 at 12:21 PM
All of the above! But I particularly enjoy your organizing/decorating style, and your DIY posts are always something I feel like I could actually do, rather than things outside my ability.

Hi benita,
I read your blog daily. Long time ago what brought me here was your diy white sofà reposted on apartment therapy. Since there i have been hooked. I love everything, especially all the white :-)... The things you build. Rooms. Drawers. You are my organizing hero. I've noticed recently shorter and lighter posts. Salutations from italy.

I'm a fairly new reader to you blog and i really enjoy all that you post, but most specifically the organization and DIY!
Thank you!

I'd like to know more about the daily habits and customs of Sweden.

Hi, Benita!
I think that I discovered your blog about a month ago. I went back and looked at some of your archives because I am crazy about organization. I also like to decorate with white and I like area to look really clean, not distracting. So, anyhow, I found your blog and saw that you have a similar taste. I like to see your projects and anything to do with cleaning, but I also really like everyday life. I have a bit of a fascination with that.
So, hello, I really like your blog.

I like your blog & am especially fond of organizing posts & posts about living in Sweden. ( I'm in Canada) I'm enjoying seeing you modify & make your new house into your new home

I love all your DIY solutions and decorating posts. I also recently LOVED the post about your trip to the museum...gives those of us who have never been there a glimpse of another location! Stockholm looks amazing!

I'm an email subscriber and I read your blog every morning- the day's post is just the right length to inspire me and still fit in over my tea or coffee- I am particularly inspired by your organizing and decorating posts- your whole blog just has this clean, white, inspiring feel to it-

I first started checking put your site because of the organizing/housekeeping posts. I've really enjoyed the renovation posts too. It's really helpful/inspiring/interesting to see a budget-wise reno undertaken by a regular person who has great ideas! But what keeps me coming back? It's so hard to pinpoint. For me it's the helpful information (you have given me so many great ideas) but also its... You. I like your style, I like your way of writing, but also, can't really think of a more articulate way to put it... you're real, you're likable. I spend plenty of time reading fantasy design blogs. I will never have a marble top Saraanin table, but I love to look at them. But the flip side to that is that I need to be inspired by real life real people solutions... Ingenious ikea hacks, great uses for scraps of wallpaper, etc. so thank you for that.

Hej Benita, your blog is really lovely, so i took some time every day to take a look at your blog. Hmm, what is so special about your blog? i think it is the mixture of DIY, decorating and so on, but i'm also a fan of swedish culture and lifestyle. finally i can say, keep up the good work!
