So this week’s list is about what’s still to pack with ONE WEEK EXACTLY until the big move!
As you can see I’ve have plenty of help packing. Aside from that one whole day packing up everything in the basement a couple of weeks ago I’ve done a few boxes a night and so far so it’s been both smooth, fast and fun.
Mini and Bonus are quite curious about what’s going on. I’m sure they would both prefer to travel to the new place in a box rather than in a pet carrier…
Anyway; Here’s what still needs packing:
* Three forks, spoons and knives, three plates, cups and glasses.
* A very few basic kitchen utensils.
* A pot and a pan.
* All the cat's things.
* All our clothes (to prevent them from getting too wrinkled)
* Our shoes.
* The bed linen.
* The art on the walls.
* The lamps.
* The outdoor flower pots, rakes etc.
* A couple of important home office items.
* Our toiletries.
* Some sofa pillows and throws (don’t want the place completely stark for a whole week).
* Parts of what’s in Wille’s room.
* TVs and DVD players.
* A few tools.
The rest is packed away in boxes already. So, lots done but still a fair bit to do. Good things it’s Friday. Yay!
Happy weekend everyone!
So how many boxes are you up to so far ??
Or are you saving the number for a special annoucement ;o)

Oh that's so funny we have a cat that looks like Mini and when we moves two years ago the first thing she and her two furry companions did was climb in boxes! Good luck with your move!

Our boxes arrived yesterday so our cats have been climbing box mountain all night. It is a good thing that cats usually love boxes.

You have this nailed like a professional mover!!

Good luck with the rest of the packing and I too was wondering how many of the boxes you have used so far! I am not surprised at your efficiency! Have fun!

Happy packing!

Just shows you what you can live on when everything else is already packed! Not a lot to go then, and you have gone about it the right way - little bit every night.
One more week? Bet you can't wait now!

Wow - you've done amazingly well. I hate packing and always put it off until the last moment. You are so organised the move is going to be so smooth! Just one week to go - you must be getting excited.

How totally organized! Of course I am not really shocked or surprised. Your move will most definitely be smooth sailing. My theory with cats and moving boxes is that they want to make sure that they are not left behind. Our cat always jumps into the suitcases when we pack for vacation.
Have a great weekend!

Yes, cats love boxes - but mine always hated to move! What I found the best so far to handle this: before the big move started, I'd prepared one room in the new home for the cats entirely. I'd put in some furniture, pillows and throws they loved plus all their toys etc. The cats moved first just before all the helpers arrived. I locked them (the cats - not the helpers!) in this new room with water, food and cat loo and kept the key with me. During the move I visited them every now and then to calm them and to show that I'm still there ;-) but no stranger was allowed to enter the room. Not until everybody had left and it was completely silent again (in the late evening), they were allowed to inspect their new home. It still was stressful for the cats and it took some time for them to settle.
Wishing Mini & Bonus all the best in this respect! ♥

I'm amazed, you've done so much work at the new house and yet you've packed almost everything. And you go to work too! I don't see how you do this, you are amazing.

Good luck packing this weekend, hope you get lots done!

How many boxes? :-))) My cats adore boxes too, and since we get almost every week some delivery - pet food, my books etc. they have their playground in one apartment corner.
Have a nice and producitve weekend!

impressive! it will feel great when it's done. x

My cats loved nibbling on the boxes... so some of then ended upp looking a bit funny. Everythings look super professional. Not surprised. :)
Brak liksom.
Kram!

Bonus looks at the boxes from a distance while Mini is the box-stacking supervisor ... or should I say guard. Eithrway, both are too cute :)
How are they coping with all the packing for your move?
I like Molly's post - I did the same during our last move and the cats settled in great.
Have a great weekend.

In awe of your organising at this stressful but exciting time!
Posted by: sue | May 06, 2011 at 06:24 AM
Haha, I'm not done yet!
Posted by: Carlos | May 06, 2011 at 07:03 AM
Funny, I did exactly that this morning! I took a taxi to the house with all their stuff + some blankets etc and will prepare Willes room and the attic room for them. On moving day, Wille will go to the house with them before the truck picks up our stuff at the old house snd make sure they are ok all day long. I'll feed him snacks and make sure his iPad is powered while he's on cat duty :).

Bra tips! Har dock redan packat flera såna lådor och missat att fälla upp kortsidorna. Drog en liten amatörmässig tejpremsa mellan långsidorna... ah, well...

They don't mind the packing. Not sure about the actual move though...
Posted by: Carlos | May 06, 2011 at 07:09 AM
three plates? three cups? three? hmmmm

Well organized! As always! Have a nice weekend!PS I`m guessing & hoping that you will reveal the "Secrets of organizing a move" some day??? xxx

Ha ha! There's an extra set if Martin stays for dinner tonight after he's packed his stuff :)

I love packing. It is a chance to evaluate everything, clean it, and get like with like etc.
Enjoy the rest of the process. Can't wait to see you and the family in the new house!

Funkar säkert lika bra!
Posted by: Anne | May 06, 2011 at 08:45 AM
Wow, Mini packed all those boxes?! Way to go, what a good girl! ;)
Have you also been weeding things out that you've decided don't come to the new house?

I am sure you haven't but just in case, don't forget to plug-in the Feliway few days before they move-in.
Have a nice weekend! X

Don't tell my cat Mimi, but your Mini has the sweetest face ever. I love how it looks like she doesn't have a nose!
Good luck packing! I may have a move coming up, and I'm NOT looking forward to it.

Thanks, I'll be sure to plug them in early!
Posted by: Carlos | May 06, 2011 at 03:42 PM
She IS VERY cute :)
Posted by: Carlos | May 06, 2011 at 03:43 PM
I have to say I haven't had to toss much. I don't have all that many belongings in the first place :)
Posted by: Carlos | May 06, 2011 at 03:46 PM
I suspected that might be the case, since you are a habitual de-clutterer.
Posted by: lisa h. | May 06, 2011 at 04:36 PM
good to see those kitty assistants patrolling the parameters there.
i'm so excited for all of you, and yay for having the pros do the kitchen and the bath. you'll have a bright clean personal space in those spots at least to move into.
as you were, kikis.

Mini and Bonus are very lucky to be in your care, makes me so happy to see animals that are loved and well cared for. I'm sure the two Sweetie Pies will love their new home.

I was worried sick about how our cats would handle the moving-stress....but they settled in fine and I don´t think they have missed their old place at all, at least it doesn´t seem that way!! If you have a lot of clothes on hangers, there are special wardrobe-boxes where there´s a rod inside and you can just hang your clothes in there.... no wrinkles, very convenient!!!

Wow, this is getting exciting! So close to the big move! :) And the whole process seems so professional compared to ours!!! We moved in completely last Friday, it was three days packing up, one and a half taking everything to the new place, and utter exhaustion. Serious exhaustion. We had no movers, no off-days from school and work, and all our boxes were used ones from hospitals. They were all very sturdy and clean so I'm very happy with them. Oh, and they were free :) I also used old newspaper for wrapping stuff, so I guess we can say we were a wee bit environment conscious with this moving. Okay, more like very budget minded :D
Now it would have helped if I had adorable kitty-helpers like you do :) Mimi and Bonus are gorgeous! :)
