It’s winter! Lots and lots of snow and cold too. Pretty great!
This is what I call a good time. Tea, lussebulle, pepparkaka and The Holiday. It doesn’t get better than that on a snowy Saturday morning.
Wille in action icing the gingerbread parts. He took little mini breaks from studying to do it.
This side of the sofa in the wedge between two cushions has become a good spot for Bonus. Regardless if there are math books or not.
The hallway on a Tuesday a few weeks before Christmas.
Wille’s been having a cold so I stocked up on fruit flavored throat lozenges. Cherry is number one but Wille figures lemon does the best job because it tastes the worst.
Today was a big day for Wille. He’s ditched his PC after having saved up for an iMac 27”. He paid the bulk part himself and got the rest that was needed as an early Christmas present from me. It’s ridiculously large, check out the old screen next to this new beast! Can’t wait to remove all the now redundant parts aka the old computer and the rats nest of cables and dust that surrounds them.
This weekend I look forward to taking it easy. I also haven’t felt 100% well (scratchy throat and sore muscles) and haven’t really had a weekend off for a while. I ‘m going to read some of the magazines that have been piling up, bake a little and watch TV. I also think it’s about time I re-watch Love Actually. It’s a pre-Christmas requirement if you ask me.
Happy weekend!
Heavens.. yet another Friday.
Two of my favourite movies for you this weekend then !!
Especially 'Love Actually'.
When Emma Thompson goes upstairs to have a cry because she realises that Alan Rickman has bought the gold necklace for somebody else and Joni Mitchell's now craggy but still beautiful voice breaks into 'Both sides now', well.. just remember to have a whole box of tissues handy. Enjoy !
Is that a new light fitting in the hall ? and as ever I must inquire about lussebulle ? and pepparkaka ? which sounds like something a baby might say. ;o)

One of my favorite scenes is when Alan Rickman shops for the necklace and "Mr Bean" takes his time wrapping it, hilarious :).
The light is one I made a while ago. Check out this post: http://chezlarsson.com/myblog/2009/09/la-lampe.html
Lussebulle = Lucia bun
Pepparkaka = Gingerbread cookie

Love, love, love this movie. The moment the band pops up in the church, when Mark shows up with the cue cards, Jamie and Aurelia, Sam and his first love and I could go on and on. "Christmas is All Around Us" became one of my favorite holiday songs. "The Holiday" is another good one.
Have a good and restful weekend!

"Love actually" is a wonderful movie, I love it - makes me both melancholic and happy at the same time.
I´m looking forward to this weekend too, I´m so in need of getting several things done - plus I want to take advantage of being home while there´s good light to take photos in. During the weeks I leave home while it´s dark and get home while it´s dark...

Oh I know.. when he keeps saying he won't be a second and keeps filling and fluffing and wrapping.
I thought I'd read all your posts.. don't know how I missed that one. Clever !!
Have a great weekend :o)

Beautiful photos, as usual. My favorite is actually the one with the throat lozenges! What a pretty and practical idea!
I also like the one of Wille's new computer. He must be enjoying it!

I absoultely agree: Love actually is a pre-christmas-must!
Have been waiting since first of december for a decent moment to sit down by the imaginary fire, having snowflakes whirl outside the window, sip something hot and delicious and enjoy something baked - am probably gonna try out your lussebulle, they look delish!
and then: center stage for love actually (and it will be the umpteenth time I will watch it)

My friends and I were just talking about Love Actually last night! I snuck in a viewing a couple of weeks ago once my exams were over - love the Emma Thompson scene too! In fact all of it - I only wish I could take out the naked porno simulation scenes and show my two boys the movie! Enjoy your weekend and hope you feel better soon. :)

Love Actually is the best film ever, I tend to cry throughout especially the necklace bit but also when that little girl cracks out my favourite festive hit, All I want for Christmas is youooooooooooooooo. I'm going to have to watch it this weekend too. :)
Posted by: kate | December 10, 2010 at 08:08 AM
I hope you're getting better soon, both you and Wille, and Love, actually DEFINITELY helps! I'm going to watch it this weekend too!
Happy and snowy greetings from Finland!
Yours,
Mia

The Holiday -- I watch it all year, so great...Jack Black is completely perfect in it and the girls' glittery tent - I really want one for myself, twinkle lights and all. I haven't been able to watch Love Actually this season -- there's too much truth to Liam Neeson being sad about losing his wife -- tear jerker, goodness.
And Wille seems like such a great guy - can I ship my 9 year old "wild thing" boy over to you and you can ship him back when he turns out like Wille;) Kidding, but it does look like you and Martin did a great job!

Posted by: Monica B | December 10, 2010 at 12:35 PM
Two of my favorites too! I could watch both of them over and over.

You paint a picture of wonderful tranquility, i love it. Winter bliss.

Here in Brazil, the weather is becoming hot and hot, and the air is very dry, so we have many people with sinusitis and asthma, including me! I hope you and Wille get better soon. And Bonus is so fluffy! Have a good weekend.

I have a 27" iMac, too, and thought it was ridiculously huge when I first started using it, but now I love all the space it provides. We also use it to download films and so it is a nice change from watching movies on a small laptop. I haven't seen "The Holiday" yet but will add it to my list.

I love seeing your pictures- especially of the snow! Do you have a pepparkaka recipe to share- or were those store-bought? Enjoy your weekend!
Posted by: Christina | December 10, 2010 at 03:34 PM
I *love* Love Actually and it's become a new holiday-time classic for me, too. Also, have you seen Dan in Real Life? That one I always watch around this time of year, too. It's very sweet and funny and the characters are great - nice to see Steve Carrel play someone not so goofy.
Good job, Willie, for saving up! An iMac is an awesome thing to save for - I have one at home and I work on one in my office. They're great.

Love Actually is THE BEST movie!!! I watch it every year while I'm decorating the Christmas tree - and usually a couple more times before Christmas too!! I love how when you know a movie so well you don't have to be totally focused on sitting in one place watching it, but can potter around with other things!
Posted by: Emma | December 10, 2010 at 05:18 PM
Congratulations for Wille! I have had an IMac like that for a couple of months now and I love it.
The upside for you must be the clean lines and the absence of cables, even though the screen is big.
Did you get him a trackpad too??? It's super Zen according to my son, and even I can now work with one...

Hi Benita,
I remember that you have a nice saw (from Japan). I couldn't find the right post. Is it suitable for gardening? Do you remember the manufacturer? I'm searching for a saw to keep the bougainvillea Tidy...
Thank you, and feel well!
Posted by: Noga | December 11, 2010 at 05:15 AM
I use this saw http://www.woodsmithstore.com/315369.html and I have used it for cutting apple tree branches but if you're cutting anything with a lot of twigs it's no good because there's a saw blade on both sides and while you're sawing with one side the other will catch other twigs. Here's a site that has japanese gardeing tools though: http://japanwoodworker.com/page.asp?content_id=9966

We didn't get the track pad, Wille wanted to start out with the cordless keyboard and maybe get one later.
Posted by: Carlos | December 11, 2010 at 09:21 AM
I haven't seen (or heard of) that. Must check out!
Posted by: Carlos | December 11, 2010 at 09:22 AM
They were store bought :).
Posted by: Carlos | December 11, 2010 at 09:24 AM
I also watch Love Actually every holiday season. Lovely, lovely movie...

I'm planning on watching Love Actually this weekend, too! A wonderful movie to craft to over the holidays. Enjoy!

Saw the news and hoped that you and Wille stayed snug inside your home. God bless you and keep you safe.
Posted by: Christy | December 12, 2010 at 12:07 AM
it is certainly the time of the year for this kind of movies. :) You got me interested! I guess I'll have to make some cookies and play the movie!

Love Actually is the best! It just doesn't feel like Christmas without it. And ditto for The Holiday...and now Just Friends and Elf too.
Hope you are feeling better. We are all in the same boat trying to stay above the colds...counting down the days until we leave the US for Norway and trying to keep everyone healthy!!
Posted by: chelsea | December 13, 2010 at 05:12 PM
Hope you're feeling better, and enjoy Love Actually! I always watch that around this time too :) Well, I watch it every few months, ha! Cute kitty; books seem to be a fav nesting spot for our kitties too. -amy

The two at the top are caps for electrical stuff. I usually paint them over in the wall color but we had the electrics redone after I painted the walls and never got around to painting them. The two by the door are light switches.
