A while ago when I was posting about my bathroom ceiling I got the question what my dream bathroom would look like if there were no money- or space restrictions.
I've been meaning to do a moodboard like the one on Polyvore and was searching the internet but couldn't find one for interior design until I stumbled onto this one over at Mydeco.
It's great fun, you can either choose your pieces from their archives or upload your own photos (which I did with the metal cabinet) and you can search by designer or brand which is how I found the Orla Kiely toiletry bag.
The downside is that you can't upload your image directly to your blog (you can to Facebook if you're a member there) but you can do a print screen, open it in a photo editing tool and after a bit of cropping upload that image to your blog should you want to. That's what I did above.

Ok, so on to my dream bathroom.
The most important thing would be a white base (floor, ceiling and tiles) and huge windows that open. I'd love a tub but also a shower. Double sinks would be lovely and although I love period original pieces I would probably go more modern if I were to buy new. I think my choice of accent color would be green if any. I'd probably stick to an all white base and add the green where it could be switched out if I changed my mind.
White plush towels are a must but I don't like those so called luxurious towels that sort of just slide over you, I want them to really soak up every drop of water right away.
As far as toiletries go I'm a sucker for nice packaging and to me the simpler is the better in the bathrom. I'd store the towels, toiletries and TP in my vintage metal dental clinic cabinets.

There it is, my dream bathroom. I love the images above and the items in my moodboard so somewhere in there is what I'd go for. What would you splurge on for your dream bathroom if you could?
One word: Sauna. Every time I'm in our lovely circa 1983 style bathroom I stare at the wall it shares with the laundry room and try to figure out how we could knock it out to make one big room and squeeze a sauna in somehow.
LOVE the shade of the green tile on your moodboard!

I love your dream bathroom!. I would get the biggest clawfoot bath I could if I was splurging :)

I agree. I had those luxurios and they would leave me wett! So now I have some old fashiones white, just 100% cotton.
My dream bath is pritty much the same as yours only when dream - then dream big - i would like to have floor sunken bathtub, something like

Dear Benita,
I love your blog. It's awful to say this but I'm new to housekeeping, having just moved to Sydney from Asia where we were fortunate to have a full time housekeeper. Now at the age of 40, I'm learning how to iron and fold fitted sheets. Your blog is an amazing treasure box of useful tips. Keep it going. There's got to be a book in there!
If ever you pass thru' Singapore, (they might have them in HK too), you'd love the Daiso stores - everything is $2 (1 euro). There are lots of nifty Japanese things for people who love to organise everything that can be organised!
xoxo Katherine

You're never to old to learn new tricks :)
I think i know the store, or similar one, from Hong Kong. Shelf after shelf with japanese home essentials. I love those stores and my suitcase always contains something from there.

Steamshower!! Preferably with spray-heads in the walls to massage your back. Definitely no longer a shower over the bathtub...

Nice shop indeed, but also in USA and some other countries, like

Hi there! Love your dream bathroom!
We had ours done not so long ago. It's only a little room but it was
so worth the effort!

I love white bathrooms. We redid our downstairs one last year--has the original 1929 hex tiles (white with a cornflower accent tile) and the original tub is still in good condition). Added white subway tiles and pale cornflower on the small part of the walls not tiled, pedestal sink of the era and medicine cabinet--with white towels it looks great and very authentic to the house.
The 1970s upstairs addition bathroom will get done in the next year or so--we'll be going with white subway tiles again, green accents and a bit more modern for the sink and such--but white will be the basis for whatever we finally settle on.

My dream bathroom would have a window that opens to the outdoors, with something lovely and green and growing outside, maybe a big tree, or some bamboo. In our current bathroom, some former owner put in a fiberglass shower surround and closed off the exterior wall, where there once was a window. We have replaced the noisy vent fan with one that is stronger and much more quiet, but my dream is to re-do the entire tub/shower area, and put back a window in the only external wall, with a clean new tub and tiled surround...

I think I have those white luxurious towels that just sort of slide over you. I love how they feel but hate how they do just sort of roll over you. Any recommendations for towels that feel just as luxurious but do a better job in soaking up water?
I love your blog, just discovered it over the weekend. :)

I have a couple which are gorgeous looking but awful for drying. Now I keep tossing them in the laundry with the other towels without using them inbetween, just to get that icky stuff out. Also I don't use fabric softener which I think helps.

:D Stort tack!!!

I love that huge window! None of our bathrooms have windows (except the small half bathroom downstairs) and I can't wait to fix that! Sadly' we can't put in windows, so we're going to install a vented solatube in each bathroom. I can't wait!
I really love your "dream" bath!

I've been thinking about this lately. A deep tub with whirlpool jets, where I could soak up to my neck and look out a big window to the trees (treeTOPS, if I add a second-story room to my little house) and sip a cool drink...
My bathroom has only a shower - no tub - for more than 25 years. If I can only have either/or, I still choose a shower (and I built it myself, so everything is the right size, height, etc.) but as my joints get more and more deteriorated, a soak in a whirlpool tub would be...ahhhhhh!

Having just finished remodeling what was a very nasty bathroom, I have to say that I think that I have my dream bathroom and it is great. The bathroom is not big, but it has all the things that I wanted. Photos are at my blog.

I'd love a solatube but since our bathroom is in the basement...

My dream bathrom would have a self-cleaning tub and basin... well, they have self-cleaning ovens, dont they?

Great photos :) I love the last one - the punches of bright color are really fun & happy.

Dear Benita, I really enjoy reading your blog and learning from it. Here in our home, we have a really small bathroom, but I had to turn it into my dream bathroom because renvation was needed as there was a leak going to the downtairs neighbour... So since we had to it, we did our best. Would love to send you a picture!
