As you're reading this I'm sitting on the flight over to Bangkok where I will eventually change planes and go on to Hong Kong. Yesterday I packed and for those of you who asked to see what my packing looks like it's what you see on the bed above. In addition to this I've added two pairs of pants and two cotton cardies which were still wet from laundering. I travel pretty light.
The three zip loc bags are stuffed with 1. Socks 2. Bras 3. Undies. This way it's really easy to unpack them on arrival.
The little white paper bags underneath the shoes are holding 1. Personal work papers (ideas for the book!) 2. Work work papers (plans of the fair halls, invitations, booth numbers, business cards, note book, pens etc). Having them in the paper bags makes it easy to keep the hotel room tidy and everything is easy to find.
Mini is staying.
The shoes (flip flops for off time, mary janes for the fair) also go into zip locs. I'm also bringing my trusted Stan Smith's but I'm wearing those.
I use this small toiletry bag that folds out and has a hook at the end so it can be hung over the shower rail, door or on the bathroom door knob. I'm always on the look out for good travel sized containers and decant my products into them. The hardest thing to find is a good strong hold hair mousse in travel size but I found this Trevor Sorbie one in an airport and love it because it's a good product AND comes in this cute practical little mini size. I have a little laminated list which I keep in the bag. On it I've listed everything that I need to remember to pack. Not everything goes in there on every trip but it reminds me to consider bringing it.
This is what comes with me into the cabin, besides from my laptop. Sunglasses (for when I arrive), inflatable neck pillow and eye mask (very important), purse, travel purse for job receipts I need to keep, coin purse (which is what I use all the time when I travel, but only when I travel. It's just big enough to fit a credit card and some local cash in), camera (you don't see it here because I'm using it :), clear makeup bag (without make up but with medicine, paper hankies, hand lotion, lip balm etc), clear sturdy ziploc sleeve for travel documents, travel adapter plug (hopefully I'll be able to recharge my computer in Bangkok), cross word puzzle and pen. I'll get a book at the airport and then I'm all set!
Next time I'm posting will be from the other side of the globe. Have a great Sunday!
Have a safe trip!
We are waiting for you and your wonderful ideas.

I hope you are having a nice trip and a pleasant stay in Bangkok!

I had wanted to ask you about your packing habits as I travel a bit myself, but still tend to get a little stressed up about my packing. Glad this post came up! The laminated check-list sounds like a given "steal" for me! :-)
Enjoy your trip to China!

This I need to show hr Fräken. His idea of packing in advanced is to throw something together about ten minutes before we have to leave for the airport. Since I tend to be a bit more organized, his packing technique (or lack there of) makes me completely stressed out!!

Thank you so much for sharing this. I have such a struggle with trying to pack light and quickly.
I like your ziplocs, white paper bags and flip flops. I've been meaning to do the laminated toiletry list forever. I do keep a packing checklist on my Palm Treo, which helps a great deal.
Have a great trip!

This is the first time that the way *you* do something looks very much like the way *I* do the same something :)
Have a lovely trip, and safe home, Benita!

:-))))
I made pretty good experience with samosnite cosmetic bags.
If you need in afuture small sizes of hair mousse please say, we have it here in many shops (the good one from Taft).
I love your trevel list idea! I have one winddows word list, but it is not that smal, and it is not laminated and I also just it - depends is it abusiness or private trip, if other people come with or not...
I love my eye mask ebacuse I can not sleep it it is not very dark in a room, so mask saves me.

I love the mary janes. Who makes them?
Great Blog. I really like your writing style. Very personable and readable.
Thanks!

Benita- Once again you amaze me! I always overpack as i can never decide what I'll need. You make it so simple and stream lined!
Can your book include a section for packing?
also the laminated card is really brilliant.

Jill, I bought the mary janes here in Hong Kong a few years ago. No brand name, probably made in China. They have been my faves ever since though. Like walking barefoot :)

I am so jealous - not only do you get to go to Hong Kong (a place I've always wanted to visit) BUT you make me as a semi organized traveler look PUNK!
