Wille and I are doing an internet Photoshop class in the evenings. It's taught In Swedish) by Mikaela of Whoopsie Daisy. We are taught the basics of photoshopping our photos and it's so much fun.
Actually I'm the one doing the course but Wille was so eager to learn too and as he has Photoshop CS, the complete software on his computer while I only have PS elements on my laptop, we sit next to each other in his room and practice on photos we've taken. Hope you don't mind Mikaela...
So far we've learned how to adjust levels, brightness, contrast, colors and today we're sharpening.
We are only at the beginning learning the basics but already I can see changes. I don't want to dramatically change my photos just enhance them a little bit and be able to use shots that were too dark originally or where the colors went wrong due to poor lighting. Its getting darker over here every day now which makes it more difficult to get the right light and hopefully I can use some of my new tricks to adjust the photos afterwards.
I did the top two photos and Wille the third. Hmmm. Wille is already much better at it than I am. Have to practice more!
Well, Wille and I are off to New York in the morning but we'll stay in touch over his iPhone. Promise!
Hi Benita,
Best wishes to you and Wille for a fabulous trip!
Have you heard of the Pantone huey? It's a small sensor that helps with monitor calibration - color and light. The huey compensates for room lighting which enables you to consistently edit your photos.

Thanks so much! We're both so excited!
Jean, I haven't heard of Pantone Huey. Will google it when we get back, sounds great!

I'm glad you are enjoying photoshop, it;'s a great program to learn!
I've tagged you, and given you an award - check my blog and pass on if you're up for it. (I do know how often these go around so don't feel obliged although I'm sure you have some interesting quirks to share.)

Hello,
Isn't PhotoShop the best? I, too, started with PhotoShop Elements a few years ago, and had a blast. I found lots of tutorials online, and now watch a few podcasts every week. The PhotoShop/Adobe/Digital Arts community is SO generous with their time and sharing their knowledge. My favs are Photoshop TV (www.photoshopuser.com), Layers TV (www.layersmagazine.com) and Pixel Perfect with Bert Monroy (http://revision3.com/pixelperfect).
I recommend that you susbscribe to these podcasts through iTunes so that you can keep them and get updated versions as they become available. Don't be intimidated if you feel that the tutorials are over your head. I found that while watching them, I eventually caught on to tools that I'd seen while messing around, but didn't know what they were for. You probably know more than you think, anyhow, just by messing around. You can also get tons of free tutorials at photoshopuser.com and layersmagazine.com.
Have fun with your class!
Brooke

I took the first class Mikaela gave and I don't know what I would do without it, I have learned so much! I can tell you that you have a lot to look forward to. Wonderful that Wille thinks it's so fun, very promising. Hope you two have a wonderful time in New York!

Hey! I just said today that I need to find an on-line Photoshop course and lookee here, thanks to you I have found one.
I also want to be able to brighten my pics and make the colors pop a bit. I have tried to work it out on my own but haven't seemed to quite figure it out.
I will go check it out now.
Thanks!!

Oh dear, I see.
She is adorable, but I guess the class is not in English.
I will continue on.
