Another day spent in the basement. It's not a dungeon so don't worry. I like it there.
I have to say I take pride in finishing jobs off. I touch up paint, I'm obsessed with hiding cables, using cable clips or cable tape to make them "disappear" and I never leave any bit of the job undone. The reason for this is simply that an unfinished job stresses me out. Martin on the other hand starts a million projects, small and large and somehow often doesn't finish them. There are so many half finished art projects in our garage and storage room. I keep moving them around when trying to clear the spaces. I'm amazed that he's not bothered about them, some are years old. They are stressing ME out and I'm not the one who started them.
I've been doing quite a bit of drilling this weekend. I love things that are wall hung as they free up the floor and make it easy to clean. Aside from the worktop being wall hung I hung the ironing board and also the little vacuumcleaner on the eithrt side of the doorway.
It's still quite white and bare. I like white and bare. But I have ordered some new fabrics from etsy for the stool cover and for a little hat for the sewing machine so there will be a little bit more color and pattern. Maybe.
Next week is a busy one. Only three days in the office, one day at the Formex fair and on Friday Wille and I leave for New York! Yay! We're getting excited over here!
Min son sitter bredvid mig och han blir mäkta avundsjuk när ni ska åka till NY.Vad bra det blir i källaren..Jag gillar din stil..om du inte redan har förstått det :)

I assume you hung those shelves yourself. If you hang some more, I'd love to see a tutorial. I love shelves but I'm so scared to hang them (same with pictures). They always want you to drill into the stud but sometimes that's not possible. Then there are those wretched anchors. Anyway, you seem very handy so I'm sure you've got the whole shelve hanging thing down pat!

I have the same mini vacuum cleaner - I love it!

kellyt, I do hang everything myself. It sounds like you have studs and drywall so you would need special annchor thingy's. We hebe treetex and wood upstairs which makes hanging really easy. Downstairs is concrete and there I use a heavy duty drill, the corresponding plugs and screws. It can be a little intimidating but if you have the right tools and materials you should be ok. Ask at your local hardware store, they should be able to help. When it comes to do the actual drilling, just go for it :) What's the worst that can happen? You may need to fill a hole... No big deal :) And then try again!

It's really looking great, Benita! Nice and bright, and barely a cord in sight. ;)
(New York! Have you been here before?)

Anna, I have been a few times but haven't seen any of the sights, just all the major department stores and shopping streets...for work... It's great though because it will be Wille's first time there and we can see the sights together. Can't wait!! We're staying in the Village which will be really cool. I've only ever stayed midtown which isn't the most exciting neighborhood.

marigio, I got them in a local department store in Stockholm called Åhléns. I's a few years ago though. They were amazingly on sale!

Please, please rub off on me, I never seem to finish anything around the house and it definitely stresses me out! And wouldn't it be good if at least my husband was the finishing type... but no, this is something we constantly work at so if you could wave your magic wand in this direction we sure would appreciate it. Great job with the basement, I can definitely see how you will enjoy sitting there. I have said it before but I don't think I can say it enough - you are my hero!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Of course, your website gets me very motivated and interested in doing stuff around the house like you are doing. I usually just wait for my husband to do it (because I AM intimidated by drilling holes and hanging things) but like you said, I should just go for it! Your little nook is beautiful (if sewing nooks are, in fact, allowed to be beautiful!).
