In my teens I started compiling recipes into a ring book album. They were recipes I thought I'd enjoy cooking once I moved into a place of my own. Ha! That never happened but for more than twenty years that recipe collection has been with me only because there are a couple of recipes in there that I actually cook by. Well they are both baking recipes come to think of it...
Besides from that ring book we also had a magazine holder filled with newspaper recipe clippings, recipe booklets from the grocery store etc. In the same I kept cooking conversion sheets and the manual for the oven. Everytime I needed something I cringed seeing the mess in there.
The weekend before last I got everything out on the dining table and sorted what I wanted to keep. About five things besides from the oven manual. I then placed a side table next to the armchair Martin was sitting in and a waste paper basket underneath, dumped the pile on to the table and told Martin to sort out what he wanted to keep. About ten things.
The reciped we wanted to keep I sorted into a clear plactic binder with plastic sleeves. Small clippings were glued on to white paper and large clippings just inserted to be taken out when cooking. Little booklets were also just inserted to be taken out. The Middagsfrid recipes are stored in a similar separate binder. Fatter booklets are on their own.
This is what's left of that horrid pile of paper and it fits nicely next to the cook books in the cabinet next to the kitchen. Hooray!
