Today was a good mail day! It's always so exciting to get something else besides from bills in the mail. I'm sure you all agree...Etsy buys are great parcels to receive but the best ones are from swap buddies.
Today such a parcel arrived. AND to top it of it's by one of my favourite bloggers Yvonne of Yvestown. Yay! Yvonne and I did a magazine swap and as is often the case something else was included in the parcel too. Super cute DIY nesting dolls. Thanks Yvonne!
Although I'm part of a fun Flickr swap group, private one-on-one swaps are my favourite. You basically contact the person you want to swap with and together you decide on what to swap and if you want there to be a theme like color or types of things and the approximate number of things to send. You exchange addresses and agree on when to send your parcels. That's it, as simple as that and so much fun.
I've swapped with Angie in Australia. Great big parcel with lots of craft goodies and Aussie mags for me plus delicious Tim Tam's for Wille and interesting (don't know how else to describe it) Vegemite for Martin and great friendship to follow but unfortunately I can't find the photo which I know I took! So sorry Angie...
Another swap from down under was with Sara who enclosed maps of Australia and the area where she lives, knowing I love maps. Such a great parcel! Even Mini and Bonus received little gifts in the shape of hot pink toy mice :)
Sunny in the US and I swapped too. She wished for Swedish magazines and I traded them for some Martha goodies. Got a Domino mag too :)
Some swaps are impromtu, like when I mentiond to Danyelle that I couldn't find Fray Check over here and I received this cute package as a gift. Ofcourse I reciprocated and sent her some things too.
Lindzi is another friend who I got to know through one of those impromptu swaps.
Are you swappers or would like to start swapping? I'm afraid I won't be able to swap with all of you...That would have been fun though. Imagine my mail box! But if you would like to swap with somebody, leave a comment that you want to, where you're from, what you'd like to swap and receive (craft supplies, magazines, local items etc) your contact info (like your blog or Flickr page from where you can be contacted). I'll let you find each other through there without my interference, ok?

I have 2006-2007 Martha Stewart magazines with the recipe cards intact that I would love to swap for any Donna Hay magazines! Or if no Donna Hay make a suggestion. Email mrshaberman@netscape.net Thanks I really want to see these go to someone who can use them.

hello! I adore magazines. and stationery items. heck..even little/medium sized notebooks. And I'm a sucker for little coin-like purses that have a clasp.
Magazines - I've never seen a Marie Claire Idees, I have been wishing forever to see a Bolig Liv issue, but I'm sure there are other pretty magazines out there. I favor a Scandinavian look for decor.
I live in the U.S. so could offer magazines from here or Martha Stewart items that can be found at both Walmart and Michael's Crafts.

I don't think I'd be too creative for a swapping buddy. Perhaps some "style at home" magazines, or "house and Home"....

Hey Benita,
Again, your blog is great and highly addictive...
I'd love to join in on the swapping parade.
I live in Tel Aviv and I'm happy to send out Time Out Israel (in English, you can preview here: www.digital.timeout.co.il/english), maps from Israel, vintage-inspired Bauhaus design and mid-century ad cards, organic olive oil products (by Olia, wwww.olia.co.il, or Olive O, both great local brands). I also have some back issues of American Elle and Vogue. Want them? Be my guest!
I'd love to get some design and fashion magazines from anywhere on this planet (especially, Domino, Martha Stewart Living, Marie Claire Idee, Elle, Vogue, W, Wallpaper, Vanity Fair....but I'm happy to be introduced to others) and artsy cards or fashion catalogues. Thanks, Benita, it's a fab idea.

I would love to swap for foreign shelter mags, having never seen most of them, or interesting stationery stuff (or other fun stuff, I'm just not crafty so I couldn't really use fabric etc.)

Posted by: Benita | October 06, 2008 at 09:46 AM
What a great idea! I hope I'm not too late for the swap because I have a lot of magazines a swap buddy or two could pick from:
a few years worth of Martha Stewart Living magazines, Martha Stewart Kids, Martha Stewart Baby, Cookie (similar to Milk but not quite as cutting edge), Domino, Elle Decor (U.S. version), Family Fun (some kids' crafts/family living type magazine), Child (another now closed parenting magazine/heavy on articles), Budget Living, Real Simple (2007 and 2008 family version), InStyle Home (featuring celebrity homes and decor articles) and probably a few others I can't remember.
Obviously, I love and hoard magazines but would be willing to part with some in exchange for Milk, Marie Claire Idees, Marie Claire Maison, Canadian House, British Country Living, Australian Elle Decor (or any other country for that matter), VT Wonen, from Germany Living & More, Wohnen & Wohlfühlen, or Country Träume Wohnen, or I'm open to suggestions. My fondness is for decorating and parenting magazines. I can read English, Spanish and and some French.
It would be great also to receive some cool little surprises like stationery, any small organizational items, crafty materials (mainly into paper crafts), kid stuff (have two kids ages 1 and 3) and would enjoy searching through my stash or the crafts store/boutiques around here (Southern California) for something special for my swap buddy. Please e-mail me at mincanto@earthlink.net if interested.
